WHAT WERE YOU THINKING???

A man’s mind may be likened to a garden, which may be intelligently cultivated or allowed to run wild; but whether cultivated or neglected, it must, and will bring forth. If no useful seeds are put into it then an abundance of useless weed-seeds will fall therein, and will continue to produce their kind.

Just as a gardener cultivates his plot, keeping it free from weeds, and growing flowers and fruits which he requires so may a man tend the garden of his mind, weeding out all the wrong, useless and impure thoughts, and cultivating toward perfection the flowers and fruits of right, useful and pure thoughts. By pursuing this process, a man sooner or later discovers that he is the master-gardener of his soul, the director of his life.”
As A Man Thinketh  -  by James Allen

I love this metaphor for Mind. I so agree with it. It is our life’s journey I believe; we are all on it whether we recognize it or not. The highest value on your hierarchy of values dictates the form of and\or in what area of life your dedication to Mind Mastery is; your highest value on your hierarchy of values determines in what area of your life you become a ‘master gardener of your soul, the director of your life.’

Perhaps it is, that what is important, is knowing what kind of flowers and fruits are required in the garden of your Mind – do you know what those are for you? If you do then weeding out all the thoughts that keep you from cultivating ‘perfect flowers and fruits’ becomes more and more productive as well as easier to do.
